- Led UCLA to its first Men’s NCAA Championship in 23 years in 1995 as captain
- 2004 National Men’s Coach of the Year honors
- Lead the UCLA Women’s team to seven national championships and the men’s team to three NCAA titles
- Won gold in the last three Olympic Games (2012, 2016, 2020)
- Won gold at the 2009, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2024 World Aquatic World Champions, the 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2023 World Aquatic World Cups, and 11 World League Super Final crowns
- Held the longest win streak in international women’s water polo history with 69 wins from April of 2018 to January of 2020
- 2013 USOC National Coach of the Year… second water polo coach to win the award
- 2013 Jack Kelly Fair Play Award recipient
- Awarded USOC Coach of the Games after 2016 Olympics
